WUAL 91.5 FM Radio Station Information

WUAL is an FM non-commercial radio station broadcasting at 91.5 MHz. The station is licensed to Tuscaloosa, AL and is part of that radio market. The station broadcasts Public Radio programming.

To whom it may concern: I hope you are doing well. As you are probably aware, Social Security is constantly combating fraud and abuse. Particularly troubling as of late have been telephone and email scammers. They are evolving and becoming better at what they do every day. Recently, we have learned of new scam where the scammer will call a beneficiary, the caller id indicates it is our local office and the automated message will tell the person that their Social Security number is about to be suspended. They are given the option to press 1 to be connected with their local office. When the person selects 1, it does indeed connect the person with the local office but, unknown to the person or the SSA office, it is literally a 3 way call, with the scammer on the other end, muted, and listening to everything being told and getting all of the personal information that the individual is giving the SSA office for verification. Scary!! The Agency has recently created the attached flyer to help give individuals additional awareness. Would you be able to show the flyer during your next broadcast or could one of our local agents could come on show and talk about the scam and how people can protect themselves? If so, that will be another way we hope to get this information out and let the public be aware.
