Hi: I am a very long-time fan and dedicated listener of WROA. Your nostalgic music is great most of the time, and you signal in the Ocean Springs area is especially strong during this time of year (otherwise your signal is either weak or garbled during other times of the year: Are seasonal air-currents the reason for this, or do you prioritize your signal direction along the general route of Highway 49 during the Spring & Summer seasons?).
Well, anyway, I just wanted to plead with you TO RETURN TO YOUR CLASSICS MUSICAL FORMAT (America's Greatest Music) after the 11th, and drop that "teenie bopper" nonsense that you have been playing for "The Cruisers." γAre you sure that this blue-collar organization really wanted to hear stuff like James Brown's jive, etc, etc. Some of this music is okay, but most of it lackes appeal to old-timers like myself (I did not care for it when I was young). During this week, I elected to listed to WGCM much of the time---which is something that I do only when your radio signal become seasonally anemic.
Thanks for Your Attention and Time,
Ken Lyons ( a Gulfport native).

I agree "America's Best Music" from Westwood One was an enjoyable format. I miss it. The "Cruisin" format is OK, but, obvioulsy there was enough outcry which prompted the Cruisin' format to be moved to WGCM 1240. But, the easy listening format that returned to WROA is pretty bad. Awful arrangements and song styles that are "elevator" music. The station management must be in the dark about their audience and shopping for a winning format. As I said...the Cruisin' format is OK, but, I hear the same songs over and over, there is an obvious absence of much of the music of that style and era and absolutely nothing to listen for in terms of announcers. I can stream song after song after song on my computer, or listen to CD's...that's not what I listen to local radio stations for. My wife and I have logged for Arbitron several times over the past few years. Bad ratings news for WROA/WGCM. Anyone else who is searching for radio in the old style of WROA can try The Music Of Your Life.com online. NOT THE TIME-LIFE site....go to www.the musicofyourlife.com

I am sitting here listening to WROA via TuneIn. I listened to this station thirty years ago when I was a teen visiting the AL Gulf Coast with my family. We would visit every year for vacation, and I always made a point to listen to WROA, which at the time was an easy listening, or "beautiful music station". Loved this station and have always had a great fondness for it. Although WROA's beautiful music format eventually evolved to adult standards and later the "America's Best Music" programming, I would still try to listen to WROA in the last several years visiting the beach, but haven't been able to receive it very well, presumably from damage from Hurricane Katrina ten years ago. Tonight...I am enjoying the music...a mix of adult standards and beautiful music I remember hearing on the station three decades ago! It's not exactly the same, but it's close, and being able to hear the call sign I remember...priceless! A definite trip back in time! :)

Al found this station when searching for music that we enjoy listening to and came upon WROA. We have an intercom system and your station is played daily on that as well as in our car! Thank you so much for catering to those who like pleasant /nostalgic music πππ
