Listener Comments and Reviews
why are there no alternative radio stations anymore. I speculate that digital radio formats have captured that audience and that older consumers prefer only vintage rock…I hope I'm wrong. I can only assume from aural observation that there is relatively no local input. It seems local musicians, local events, clubs, bars, etc. are of no consequence except in fiduciary gains. In the "old days" radio stations made the musicians popular and gained audiences. The synergy between radio and and local artists seems more relevant. Sorry to rant and I'm sure you've heard this before. Thanks for the soapbox to air my comments.

WKGR generates no localized programming. It is either nationally syndicated programs (such as the soon to go off the air Sixx Sense with Nikki Sixx) or computerized with pre-recorded, voice-tracked breaks with IHeart's stable of voice tracking artists. Tyson, Bman, Big Rig, Rafferty, are all heard on multiple IHeart stations and aren't local. Jody Stewart and Andy Preston are local, but voice tracked as well. Doc Reno is voice tracked and is heard on WBGG Miami, as well as other IHeart stations. The music programming and its rotation mirorrs WBGG in Miami.
