The Memphis Lions club is having a sock hop. To raise funds for our Pavilion roof a dedication will be made in honor of George Kirkindall.
He was a legend and a pillar of the community, and pretty much Memphis royalty.George Kirkindall served six terms as mayor of Memphis; the terms weren’t consecutive, yet even when he lost elections he always tried again. “George served his country with the Merchant Marines (1952-1954), was a parishioner of Holy Family Parish, Memphis and a member of the Knights of Columbus All Saints Council 10501. He was a former president of the Memphis Lions Club and Past Commander of the American Legion Merrick Potter Post #566. He was the original owner of the Memphis Party Store for 17 years and a strong supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital hosting a bike-a-thon in Memphis for over 10 years.”
