We were searching online for more info about this "awesome" new station that my co-workers mentioned, and came upon this site. I totally agree with the other positive comment left about this station....(BTW, they call themselves "The Rebel") Word is apparently spreading, but they do need to advertise it, and ALOT more people would find it - AND love it! The other "classic music" station in town is so chalk-full of annoying commercials day and night it's absolutely pathetic (not to mention the programming and music SUCKS as well)! Goes to show you what those who aren't obviously concerned only with the almighty dollar can do! FINALLY a station NOT controlled by the same corporate radio hog monopolies. So, anyway, keep up the great work on this cool local station that is really needed in this community. I might even dump my SiriusXM now!

LOVE IT TOO! I can actually drive to and from work now and hear songs on the radio (unlike the others that play ONLY commercials). AWESOME VARIETY AS WELL! Makes my workday go fast hearing all my old favorites from years ago. Great job WGKZ! Just wish I could reach you further out of town.

I was searching for a decent radio station the other day and came across this one. The music is a wonderful blend of all types and genres. There is rarely a commercial. It's like listening to Sirius XM on my house radio. I haven't turned it off since the discovery. I'm hearing songs that I had nearly forgotten. Hope it stays around for a very, very long time.

Absolutely love it! A station finally
FOR THE PEOPLE with a super awesome variety that is always a surprise :-)
#1 on my car presets now. Won't let anyone touch my dial. It's been "stuck" there since I found it!

Great job! You won't have a problem finding listeners with the variety of music you are playing. Thank you !

At the local gas station Kingsford Self Serve I asked the clerk what radio station she was listening to. She said 88.7, she said they discovered it this spring, changed the radio to that station and they haven't changed the station since. Go figure I just realized the station broadcasts from the same office building I'm in. Great station, great music, not full of adds and commercials. Now we just need to get the word out to others. Keep up the great work!

OMG! A truly good classic-music radio station in this town without all the ridiculous commercial crap!?? Is the world coming to an end?.... or is it possible we could be getting back to the basics again? I will remain hopeful. Thanks 88.7! :-)

simply love this station. All the best music one could ask for. As the others seem to keep adding even more blab and freaking commercials to the airwaves, 88.7 is a real breath of fresh air on the radio spectrum. A small but Truly phenomenal station! These guys should have the output power that the other big airwave-abusers have! They’d use it for the good of the public unlike those other multi owned monopolies. Word to you “big guys”....people are SICK OF YOU! Everyone at my work TURNED YOU OFF! It’s 887 all the way now!

Love this station. Has something for everyone. No annoying commercials and DJ chatter. Just good tunes that aren’t repeated over and over all day b

I am sooo glad I stumbled on this station! Agree, I have it on right now at work and it's programmed in my car! Love all the music, not as many breaks as the other stations. Songs I haven't heard since in high school!! love it

I just moved to the Iron Mountain (MI) area in November (2017) and stumbled across this station one day. I am BIG fan of their playlist/genre. The station plays anything from chart-topping (but since over-looked hits) to obscure/middling hit songs which unfortunately have not received much airplay since their initial release, including some excellent songs I have literally not heard in 20 to 30 years.. I really appreciate that!! This station is a keeper!

Cant even begin to say how much I love this station. Hope they eventually stream their broadcast so I can listen all day when I’m not near town.

Play more beegees at night... we've been trying to find your phone number... LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!
By: Amy Neuens on November 16, 2018
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the fact that I don't hear the same song over and over all day long. This is a great radio station that plays a wide variety of music from various decades! Keep up the good work!

Just found your station this Summer and it's Great! Way way better than the blabber mouths with the other stations-they never stop Talking and advertising! We live in Norway, though, and your transmission range ends Just West of town, so the only time we can hear you guys is when we drive into Iron Mountain! We even had a professional Winegard antenna installed on the house here just to try to pull you in here, but no such luck! Sure do wish you'd crank up a few more Watts!
By: William-Rita on December 31, 2018
For the first time, they have been off the air all day today. For anyone wondering why, I called and was told they are experiencing transmitter issues and plan to be off the air for a week or so while they wait for parts. So sad when I heard static when I came to work and turned on the radio. There's nothing else worth listening to on the radio without them, so I guess I'll be digging out and bringing in my old box of CD's to play til they're back. Hope it's not long! A week will seem like forever!!

Thanks for saving us from Radio Wasteland!
By: Robin on February 16, 2019
Gave up on all local radio until a friend of mine told me about this station. I used to wanna rip my hair out after 10 minutes of listening to all the other stations around this town. It's SICKENING the insane amount of national and local commercials they run. They sure must be raking in the dough, although I can't believe any local businesses would even want to waste their money on crap radio that people don't even listen to anymore! There's barely any music at all and what little they do manage to play, it's the same 100 or so songs over and over. And then to add even more reason to shut them off is the annoying syndicated and fake DJ's with their corny so-called "humor". My six year old can tell you better jokes then they can! I could go on and on for days, but from the many similar comments on here I'm by far not the only one who realizes all this. Robin, you summed it up perfectly.....It's a radio wasteland. I just wanna say a million THANK YOU's as well to whoever put the rebel into existence!! I'd also like to know how to donate to this station. Does anyone know how to go about doing this?

A GREAT RADIO STATION!!
By: Sam Arnauld on May 26, 2019
I just moved back to the area after being gone for about 7 years and was pleasantly surprised to learn about this new station. I love the music they play from local artists! This is a wonderful station with a real interest in what the community really wants, and isn't chasing after profits, but instead providing a much needed service which hasn't existed in a long long time in this sleepy little town where every other (NON local) big-guy owned radio station is absolutely deplorable.

Is it possible to share yesterday’s (May 7) playlist from 4:45 PM to 5:15 PM? Thank you
By: Max Calle on May 8, 2021
Love your station especially with no commercials which I love the most and just a suggestion maybe flip side would be great too Thank you for being this long without commercials Amazing! Keep on rocking
By: Tanya on July 24, 2023
A hidden gem. Glad I stumbled upon it. The constant Madonna/Tom Petty/Bob Seger rotation on the other stations are overdone. At least when I hear those artists on The Rebel, it’s different songs and not the same 3 overcooked ‘hits.’ I’ve got you on all day.
