I first tuned into WCHP one afternoon when I was bored hoping to hear some holy rollers and snicker at them. Instead i heard rational , intelligent discourse on scripture and some interesting music and this began a trajectory that would change my life from the empty , meaningless pursuit of whatever the culture wanted us to pursue. I was already disgruntled with the music scene of the time as well (mid nineties) with the rise of grunge, rap and the takeover of corporate pop music it was refreshing to be introduced to some new and talented artists of the time such as Steven Curtis Chapman, Cindy Morgan, the Newsboys and even some of the greats from days gone by like Petra, 2nd chapter of Acts and Keith Green, as well as learning about scripture and how to properly read and interpret it and make it part of my life. On Jan 4th 1996I was listening to Back to the Bible, with Woodrow Kroll, to whom i had been listening for for some time, pulled over my car and said the Sinner's prayer. So, in a sense, the fact that WCHP existed saved me from a path that would have led to eternal damnation. For that I am grateful to them to this day, though i left Montreal 15 years ago.. Thank you to Teri, Tonya, Brandii and Merritt and the whole staff who were the voices that helped me start each day on the right foot with their morning show which i still miss to this day. It;s too bad I can't listen to them online. My story is only one among many and i hope that on subsequent visits to this page I will be able to read some others.
