Lately, in the mornings the talk is about the late development of the Texas corn crop. The late condition of the crop from historical progress is due to farmers now being more efficient. If you live in the Panhandle it is obvious that we have very pleasant late Summers. This results in the corn field producing more corn for each acre inch of water. If the corn is planted early as in the past, the crop is having to use more water to develope with hot windy conditions and shorter cool nights...now there is a management adjustment with declining water well yields.
