Hello. I grew up in northern Arizona, Chinle, and my folks listened to Gallup's KGAK every day and that's where, in 1950 and 1960, I also listened to Navajo singers on the radio station and there was one singer who had a strong deep voice -- a Navajo man-- named Ed Natai. Maybe I misspelled his name here. He sang all his songs in Navajo dialect, a traditional but contemporary because the songs were NOT cult/ cultural prayer songs. They were about every day activities like singing while he rode his horse or he would sing love songs to his lover; and they were not inappropriate ones either. The only instrument he used was a drum. Do you still play these songs on KGAK? and where could a purchase of the CD be made?
