Hello. My name is Hope Schroer,I am the Job coach for the Cedar Rapids School District. I work in a program that is presented through the special services/special education department of the Cedar Rapids School community schools.This gives students with transition goals in their IEP , to work at cooperating businesses in the community during school hours to gain valuable work skills. The businesses do not pay the students it is volunteer basis.Instead the students are evaluated and earn credit toward graduation. Since the students are not paid, but are participating in work experience as class work , any injuries a student could receive is covered under the school districts workers compensation policy. I the job coach, accompany the students for their support and I evaluated them. And help them achieve their goals and help them gain employment in our community.
