Active Rock - Current hard rock songs.
Adult Album Alternative -
Adult Contemporary - Often air hit well known mainstream songs from the last 30 years.
Adult Hits - Adult hits stations often mix together top hits from the 1970's, 1980's, 1990's, and 2000's all on one station. The format can vary a lot between various Adult Hit stations with most often airing a mix of alternative rock, adult contemporary, classic rock, pop, and sometimes country and hip hop all on one channel.
Adult Standards - Music appealing to an older demographic. Artist include Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, and Michael Buble.
Alternative - Some what of a mix between Rock and Pop.
Classic Hits (Oldies) - Mainstream hit songs from the 1060's, 1970's, and 1980's.
Classic Rock - Classic rock stations consist of rock music mostly from 1965 to 1985 but some stations may air songs from a few years later or prior. Core artist include The Beatles, Boston, Led Zeppelin, and The Rolling Stones.
Country -
Christian Contemporary - Similar to Adult Contemporary and CHR but with religious or spiritual meaning in the songs.
Contemporary Hits Radio (Top 40/CHR) - The top hit or top selling songs.
Hot Adult Contemporary (Hot AC) - Adult Contemporary with recent hits.
News - A format where a station's schedule consist mostly of news stories, weather reports, and traffic updates. Little to no music is played on a news station.
Public Radio - Mostly applied to stations offering programming from NPR. Public Radio may also be stations with local host, talks shows, or music programming. Public Radio stations do not air advertising.
Regional Mexican - This format consist of various different types of music from Mexico including banda, ranchera, mariachi, nortena and other similar types of music.
Talk - A talk station is made up of several talk shows where the primary purpose is talk and analysis rather than music. The majority of talk stations schedule consist of syndicated shows like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Glenn Beck. While most talk stations are political there are numerous other talk shows where politics is never discussed instead focusing on gardening, technology, financial, relationships, or other topics.
Variety - A station is labeled as variety when the playlist consist of several different formats on this page or a mixture of music that does not fit into one of the above categories.
